Isolation Transformers, Wound to Spec

An isolation transformer separates its primary and secondary windings completely, so there is no direct electrical path between the supply and the load. That break does three things at once: it removes the ground reference that makes a shock hazard, it blocks common-mode noise and ground loops, and it lets you derive a new, cleanly bonded neutral for sensitive equipment.

We wind 1:1 isolation transformers and custom ratios in 480, 240, 208, and 120 V, single-phase or three-phase, with electrostatic (Faraday) shielding between windings where noise rejection or leakage current is critical — including medical-grade designs. Our engineers spec shielding, insulation system, and enclosure for free, and every unit is individually hipot- and ratio-tested before it ships.

Isolation Transformers

It transfers power magnetically between two electrically separate windings. Because there is no conductive path from input to output, the secondary is galvanically isolated: ground loops are broken, common-mode noise is blocked, and the load no longer shares the supply's ground reference — which is what makes it safer to touch a single conductor.

You need it whenever high-frequency common-mode noise or leakage current is a concern — medical equipment, precision instrumentation, and anything feeding sensitive electronics. The shield is a grounded conductive layer between primary and secondary that gives capacitively coupled noise a path to ground instead of into your load.

No. A 1:1 ratio is the classic isolation configuration because it isolates without changing voltage, but any isolated transformer provides galvanic separation. We build isolation transformers that also step voltage up or down when your application needs both.
